About

In this modern day and age, it is critical to find cost-effective, low-stigma interventions to alleviate suffering from various levels of stress.  We are a group of community members who love and appreciate what mindfulness and meditation exercises can do, while at the same time being mindful of the safe practices of it.

According to David Treleaven of Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, “Unbeknownst to many, mindfulness meditation can exacerbate symptoms of traumatic stress. Instructed to pay close, sustained attention to their inner-world, people struggling with trauma can experience….. dysregulation…

Therefore, our goal here is to, while adapting with the fast changing world, bring to our awareness trauma informed & polyvagal informed strategies that are safer, practical, and effective, in building resilience and managing stress. The key is to engage the body and the nervous system to induce calm. Sensory based tools (such as Tapping, Havening, Breathwork) is a big part of the 4th wave of therapy. Better yet, many of these can be practiced on one’s own in between and/or while waiting for further professional support. This is a very rapidly growing field, and here at GT/USG, we are blessed to have been on the front lines of educating and sharing resources with our community and beyond.
